Barberton protesters stone bus, block R40
The roads have since been cleared and the police are on standby monitoring the situation.
Several protesters stoned a bus and temporarily blocked off some roads in Barberton this morning, May 31, in an alleged call for service delivery.
It has been reported that the protest started just before 04:00 when people stopped a passenger bus on the R40 at the entrance to Barberton and pulled the driver out before stoning it and breaking several windows.

Barberton’s police spokesperson, Capt Jabu Ndubane, said several other roads in town were also blocked off, but have since been cleared as well as the R40.
She said the police have opened a case of malicious damage to property following the destruction to the bus. She said the protesters are on their way to the
Barberton Civic Centre to hand over a memorandum to municipal officials. The police are closely monitoring the situation cl.
