Radio host tees off to raise money for the underprivileged

The Kedebone Mkhabela Foundation was established in 2017 with the purpose of helping young people of Mpumalanga to transform their lives.

It is that time of the year again when local celebrity and radio host, Kedebone Mkhabela, tees off for a noble cause during the Kede’s Fundraising Golf Day. Scheduled for Friday April 29, this annual event will be held at the magnificent Mbombela Golf Club.

The first installment of this event was hosted in 2021 at the same venue and was a resounding success.

“This event is aimed at continuing to raise funds for our youth-based campaign, the Mpumalanga Youth Legacy Project, which caters for high school learners in need of opportunities, assistance and guidance,” said Mkhabela.

This fundraiser is hosted under the banner of the Kedebone Mkhabela Foundation and serves as a strategic way for everyone to network. “Our core focus with the Mpumalanga Youth Legacy Project is to assist public high school learners between the ages of 13 and 19, who are dealing with social ills and are looking for ways to change their lives for the better.

Our townships are filled with school dropouts, teenage parents, young substance abusers, young criminals, victims of abuse, unemployed youths and more. We have an opportunity to change this through our programmes.” Mkhabela said the programmes were disturbed by the Covid-19 restrictions, but were still able to touch lives where they could. “We donated blankets to a centre for the elderly based in Pienaar, the Siyaphila Old Age Centre. We are also in the process of finalising our dignity packs campaign to donate to underprivileged learners and GBV survivors.

“The golf day will return to the beautiful and lush Mbombela Golf Club for the second year as we strive to continue to strengthen the brand. The plan is to host the event in all the available golf courses around Mpumalanga.” Mkhabela said they will be once again hosting players from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and eSwatini. “These players will be joining our Mpumalanga players, as well as well-known celebrity golf players, TV personality Dingaan Khumalo and soccer legend Brian Baloyi.”
