Get fit and healthy with aerobics

Twenty aerobics clubs from Mpumalanga and Gauteng provinces as well as Swaziland, together with their coaches, will strut their stuff on the day as they demonstrate fitness techniques that lead to a healthy lifestyle.

The  club will once again promote an active and healthy lifestyle when it hosts a provincial aerobic event to celebrate four years since its inception, on Saturday April 9 at the Mbombela Civic Centre.

Newcomers are also encouraged to take part in the event as the instructors and trainers will take them through various aerobics exercises during the fun-filled event.

Registration to the event is R150 for adults and R100 for under 16s with proceedings commencing at 06:30. Hope of Glory Aerobics was founded by Louis Maseko, popularly known as Enigma 161, in April 2018, at Matsulu B, with just a few members, but it has since grown in leaps and bounds.

Maseko has a passion to see people living healthy lifestyles in order to empower and boost their bodies to fight lifestyle and opportunistic diseases.

The club has sessions in Matsulu and Mbombela. “We want to foster an active lifestyle among members so that they can keep fit in all elements and be healthy,” said Maseko.

He said they have tailor made workouts sessions suitable for the entire family which are aimed at maintaining health conditions for all participants.

Among others, the benefits of aerobics are weight loss, reducing chances of contracting lifestyle diseases, boosting and strengthening immune system and improving fitness levels.

Maseko said most people think aerobics are complicated and exhausting but they change their mindset as soon as they start participating in workouts, which most of the times consist of moderate intensity activities that are sustainable for longer periods. “We have introduced many people to aerobics and they appreciate an opportunity we provided as they are now fit and some even went on to conquer marathons, something they thought impossible before.

“It is important that we all keep fit, and aerobics provide an opportunity for us to increase our stamina, reduce fatigue and lose excess weight,” she continued.
