Pupils get much-needed uniforms

In the spirit of ubuntu, the 2022 Mrs Mpumalanga finalist and founder of a non-profit organisation, Nikela, Nosipho Mofokeng, donated 40 pairs of school uniforms and shoes to the learners of KwaLodakada and Sihlangu primary schools last Friday.

NKOMAZI – “Growing up in Nkomazi and witnessing the reality of poverty, I was inspired to come back and help out where I could. There are many families that depend on social grants for survival and those are often not enough to sustain these families,” said Mofokeng.

She said many learners, especially from disadvantaged families, drop out of schools because they lack the proper school uniform and don’t have sanitary pads.

“Through Nikela I can lend a helping hand and aid those families,” she continued.

This beauty queen said she wants to continue giving these kids a better life. “In future my organisation will create jobs for the unemployed and educate young boys and girls about GBV, drugs and different career paths,” she added.

The headmaster of Kwa-Lodakada Primary, Nhlanhla Nkuna, said, “We are very blessed as a school to have received the school uniforms and shoes. This is not the first time she (Mofokeng) has donated to the school. Although there are many children who are struggling here, this will certainly make a difference.”
