Commuter safety top priority to taxi association

With the festive holidays being the busiest and the roads congested with high traffic volumes, the Top Star Taxi Association has vowed to deliver its mandate to ensure commuters safely arrive at their destinations.

MBOMBELA -The association’s chairperson, John Mavundla, said, “We will continue to make sure that our commuters are always safe and they arrive at their destinations.safely.”

To avoid unnecessary accidents, Mavundla said they have instructed and encouraged their drivers to rest when fatigue sets in.

“We have educated our taxi drivers to report in if they are feeling sick and would not be able to transport our commuters. Importantly, we have instructed them to always take a break whenever tired, because fatigue is one of the main causes of crashes on the roads. They understand well that they must rest enough in order to avoid unnecessary accidents.

“We have also urged them to fix and service their taxis on time before taking long journeys.” He said they have not recorded any accidents since the festive holidays started. “We pray and hope that things will stay this way so that our commuters are safe and get to spend the holidays with their loved ones,” said Mavundla
