“Reports indicate that defenceless women were sadly raped as well as robbed of their personal items during the said period in both Acornhoek and Calcutta. Several cases were separately opened to that regard and members of the provincial team of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, working with their counterparts in Acornhoek, were assigned to investigate, as well as ensure that the perpetrator is swiftly put behind bars,” said Mohlala.

“During the investigation, the team discovered that the suspect has been operating in the area for a while.” Mohlala urged residents, especially within the Bushbuckridge area, to continue to report rape cases to the police immediately.
