Suspect in court for dealing in dagga

A 33-year-old man appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Friday December 17 after he was nabbed by the Hawks for allegedly dealing in dagga. 

KARINO – According to information, the suspect was arrested by the members of the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime

Investigation for allegedly transporting dagga.worth R155 000 last Tuesday December 14 at the Karino Emkhatsini filling station.

The Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson, Capt Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, said,

“The arrest came after crime intelligence led information about a vehicle that was transporting dagga.was followed. Members stopped and searched a white Toyota Hilux at the Karino Emkhatsini filling station. “During the search, nine bags of compressed dagga.weighing 155.58kg with a street value of R155 000 were recovered. The suspect was immediately arrested and charged accordingly,” Sekgotodi continued.

The suspect was remanded in custody and his case was postponed to December 21 for formal bail application.
