Ex-cop found guilty of murder

The family of the former police officer, Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu, who was found guilty by the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Friday on six counts of murder, has welcomed the court’s verdict.

They said they were relieved that justice had taken its course.

Speaking exclusively to Mpumalanga News, Joyce Ndlovu, whose children were killed by her older sister, Nomia, said, “My heart is still in pain.

From where I am standing, I speak on behalf of the family and I can assure you that we strongly condemn my sister’s actions. She killed my children, which means she chose money over her own family. It will take time for me to accept that my kids are no more because of her.

“My children had so much to live for and were still young. I am just at a loss for words by this whole thing,” she said.

The NPA Gauteng Local Division’s spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwana, said, “We welcome the conviction of Rosemary Ndlovu. We maintained that the only inference to be drawn was that she was the one who perpetrated these offences.

She was either the first or the last person to be in the company of all the deceased and the motive was monetary benefit. We hope this will serve as a deterrent to like-minded individuals,” she said.

The case will return to court on November 5, to make arguments in mitigation of sentence. Nomia was found guilty of killing her boyfriend and five family members for insurance claims with the help of a hitman in 2012. She allegedly benefited by R1.4m.
