EFF pickets at border posts in solidarity with citizens of eSwatini’s protests

Hundreds of trucks transporting goods were left stranded at both borders since yesterday.

Members of the EFF in Mpumalanga picketed at the Mananga and Oshoek border posts in solidarity with the people of eSwatini.

The protestors are calling for democratic reforms in eSwatini.

Collen Sedibe, the provincial leader of the EFF, said they were hopeful that their intervention and support of the pro-democracy protests continuing in eSwatini would have positive results. “We have already handed a memorandum to Mswati through the EFF in eSwatini. We are bridging the economy. No vehicle is crossing between the two countries,” he said. He added that people using the borders were allowed to walk into eSwatini.

Violent pro-democracy protests continue in eSwatini, in which residents demand electoral reforms. Properties, including shops, vehicles and trucks, have been damaged and shops looted.
