Sassa has released the dates for pension payouts for the month of July.
“Older persons’ grants will be paid from July 6. This includes any grants linked to these accounts. Disability grants will be paid from July 7 and again, this includes any grants linked to these accounts. All other grants will be paid from July 8,” said the agency’s provincial spokesperson, Senzeni Ngobeni.
“There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed,” he advised. Ngobeni also cautioned pensioners to be wary of scams currently doing the rounds, to defraud social grant beneficiaries.
He said there are criminals who pretend to be Sassa employees and in the process defraud beneficiaries of their social grant monies. When approached by someone claiming to be a Sassa employee, pensioners and other beneficiaries should refuse to cooperate, as the agency does not send its staff to people’s homes to tamper with their cards.
