Beware of crime at Emoyeni Mall

This warning comes after an increasing number of reported cases from the mall.

The Pienaar police have sent a stern warning to members of the community to be vigilant when withdrawing money from ATMs at Emoyeni Mall.

According Capt Jabu Ndubane, the spokesperson of Pienaar Police Station, the recent victim was a 56-year-old woman who withdrew R5 000 from an ATM.

It is alleged that another middle-aged woman pretended to show her some money she had apparently dropped on the ground. The woman approached her to “help her”. “While she was speaking to her, two men who pretended to be police officers approached them and told them to get in their vehicle to solve their matter over the money at the police station.

“The unknown suspects then drove with the complainant towards the main road to town. The victim was apparently sprayed with something that intoxicated her. She woke up near the Plaston Road with all her belongings missing. All her money and bank cards and other belongings were stolen. She said more money was withdrawn from her account,” Ndubane said.
