Police arrest teenage boy for allegedly stabbing his uncle to death in Casteel

According to police reports, the victim was repeatedly stabbed in his upper body with a sharp object - allegedly by the teenager after a heated argument.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested this week in connection with the murder of his 52-year-old uncle, who was stabbed to death on June 21 in Ratanang Village, Casteel, in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

The police and medical personnel were called to the scene. The victim was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.

The suspect was arrested on the same day in connection with the murder. The matter was handled under the guidance of the probation officers, due to the fact that the suspect is a minor.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Maj Gen Thulani Phahla, strongly condemned the incident. “It is unfortunate that violence has become an accepted norm of resolving matters in our society and this often results in unbearable circumstances. This situation needs to be urgently corrected by all walks of life,” he said.
