Mpumalanga’s new queen crowned in true style
It is official. Dr Claude Mashego is the new queen of the province. Crowned during an electrifying and tough competition at Emnotweni on Saturday night, the new reigning Miss Mpumalanga knows she has to fill quite big shoes left by her predecessors.
Mashego, a medical doctor by profession, beamed as she wore the custom-made, newly introduced crown. Winning this coveted title has always been a dream for this gorgeous doctor hailing from the dusty streets of Bushbuckridge.
Her ever-supportive parents said they always had the confidence that she would one day be crowned as the queen of the province and later of the entire country.

“I am over the moon and I feel like I am dreaming that my daughter has won. I have always known that she would one day win, but now that she has, it is absolutely unbelievable and an experience I will never forget,” said her mother, Adelaide Sekgobela-Chiloane.
She said she had confidence her daughter would do great as she had won most of the pageants in which she had participated. “She has always been a great admirer of beauty pageants from an early age, and this fuelled her to participate in many local ones.”

Adhering to Covid-19 regulations, neatly dressed guests showed up to witness the new queen of Mpumalanga being crowned. It was a challenging decision for the judges to make, as all the contestants proved to have met the most important criteria of being Miss Mpumalanga; beauty with brains.
The organisers of the event, Mzimari Productions, said the show proved to be a runaway success.
“The event was absolutely out of this world, and we are just excited that the pageant continues to grow and attract tough competition from girls from all walks of life. This simply tells us and the entire province that Miss Mpumalanga is the right platform to groom young girls into becoming responsible women,” said Gugu Nyarenda, the brains behind the brand.
