New queen to wear all-new crown

One of the 12 finalists in the annual Crowning Miss Mpumalanga will have her name written in the pageant’s history books.

This is because the 11th queen of the province will get to wear the all-new Miss Mpumalanga crown, perfectly crafted and fit for a queen, with a finishing of sparkling diamonds. “We have been hosting this event and have crowned ten queens in the past ten years.

And we have decided that since we have just reached our first decade, it’s time to introduce a new crown that will guide and ferry us as we journey into our second decade,” explained event organiser and Mzimari Productions CEO, Gugu Nyarenda.

“This new crown is all about love. It is all about more love for our beautiful province. And whoever gets to wear it must also have much love for the province and its people. The beauty queen wearing the crown must have love for our nature and environment. And above all, she must have a big heart and love to empower other girls.”

Taking place this Saturday at Emnotweni, award-winning Afro-pop sensation, Sjava, will serenade the audience with his smoothly blended sound. Nyarenda stressed the importance of hosting such an event within the prescribes and regulations of Covid-19.

“Again, because of Covid-19, our show will be hosted slightly different just to keep in line with the regulations. It also pains us as much as it pains the people of the province that because of Covid-19, we have to host the show behind closed doors, thus depriving many an opportunity to celebrate with us. “And so, to keep in line with the regulations, a limited number of people including our sponsors, the media, crew and judges, will be allowed access. We are doing this just to help curb the spread of Covid-19 and, who knows, maybe next year we will be together again,” added Nyarenda.
