Police arrest alleged rapist of pregnant teen

The suspect is expected to appear in the Eerstehoek Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the rape of the 18-year-old pregnant girl.

A general worker accused of raping a pregnant girl in the eMbhuleni Hospital in Elukwatini, has finally been arrested.

The 31-year-old man was arrested by the Mpumalanga police in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal yesterday. He is expected to appear in the Eerstehoek Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the rape of the 18-year-old pregnant girl.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesperson of the Mpumalanga SAPS, the rape occurred in the hospital’s bathrooms on May 14.

News of the suspected rape circulated on social media. Facebook users described the alleged rapist as an untouchable general worker of the hospital who was well connected, but disrespected everyone in the hospital.
