Crowning Miss Mpumalanga puts Covid-19 safety first

The 11th edition of Crowning Miss Mpumalanga has begun.

Auditions officially opened last week and according to organisers, Mzimari Productions, everything is on track.

Due to Covid-19 the auditions are being conducted online and once this process has been concluded, potential contestants will receive callbacks.

“We are aware that we are now under lockdown level 1, but because we know that our auditions attract too many young people from across the province under one roof, we took a decision that we believed would be in the best interest of everyone involved. We just didn’t want to risk putting the lives of those young girls at risk by having them attend the auditions,” said Gugu Nyarenda, CEO of Mzimari Productions.

Arguably one of the most consistent signature events in the province, this annual spectacle has over the years produced the finest queens, such as Ntandoyenkosi Kunene who went on to be crowned Miss SA in 2016.

“This is not just your normal beauty pageant, but a platform where young girls are groomed and empowered to be better women and future leaders. This is a stepping stone to the next level and it is up to the girls how much they want to succeed in life,” said Nyarenda.

Proudly sponsored by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, this event has not only produced capable queens and princesses, but has also delivered top-of-the-class entertainment that has won the hearts of many in the province.

Dates and venues for this year’s grand finale will be communicated.
