The Rockets sharpen their focus to maintain their streak

TS Galaxy's goalminder, Marlon Heugh, believes that consistency will be key in maintaining the team’s good run.

Galaxy have not lost a league game in their past eight outings.

“The consistency we have in the team is based on the fact that we have not had many injuries at the back. The team is starting to gel together well. For me, it is all about the players around me.”

“They know what they want to do. They know what we want to achieve as a team. Everyone is focused on what we have to go and do on the playfield and keeping a level head. We are focused on the job at hand,”

Heugh stated. The 30-year-old has amassed four clean sheets, but said he does not want to put his personal goals ahead of the club’s objectives.

“For me, the clean sheet is always just a bonus. The main objective is to get three points. The guys have done well. “There’s more calmness now. The pressure has been taken off us. We are no longer at the bottom of the log. Now, we are on the seventh spot. It is all about being consistent. We have to keep a level head,” Heugh said.

The Rockets are now seventh on the log with 26 points after 19 games.

“Any keeper in the world would love to keep a clean sheet. If it is not possible during the game, you have to settle and push on to the next one,” he elaborated. Galaxy will host Maritzburg United at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday at 17:00.

“Yes, we’ve been in a very good run. We shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves. We have to stay consistent and believe in ourselves. We are starting to do that. That proved we do have a lot of leaders on our team. For now, we have to improve step by step.

“We have to take one game at a time so that in the future we can achieve more than what we have achieved. It is important to stay focused so that we can keep this run intact. We have to treat each game as a final,” he concluded.
