It was through music that she found comfort and healing, and she hopes to spread a message of hope through her latest release

Ruth “Ruthy” Mthabine of Hluvukani Village recently dropped her hit debut EP, Rooted. The three-track worship EP was inspired by Colossians 2:7: “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Mthabine is also a mother, wife, life coach and businesswoman. “My holistic ministry, whether in music or business, is to empower, heal and restore,” Mthabine said. The talented musician is the founding director of Masigide Consulting, a company that provides business advice and mentorship for small and medium entrepreneurs in rural areas. She is also the brains behind the formation of Akhona Teens Leadership Foundation, which was named after the passing of her son, Akhona, in 2017.

“The foundation is aimed at helping teens who are raised by single mothers to navigate through life challenges knowing that they have the support they need to face the world. “Akhona’s passing helped me to appreciate the opportunities God presented me and to make an impact in the lives of others. It was sad that it took death for me to realise God’s purpose for my life. “I am, however, grateful that my pain helped me to overcome my fears and propelled me towards my destiny,” she said.

“Growing up I had a strong sense of a calling upon my life to heal and restore hope to the neglected and broken. At an early age I committed my life to Christ and haven’t looked back since. “Through mountains and valleys, the Lord continued to order my steps until I discovered my purpose of ministry,” Mthabine said. .
