Road accident claims two lives in Mariti

Two lives were lost on the R40 following a tragic accident in the Mariti area on Sunday morning. According to onlookers, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and hit a nearby tree. The police and paramedics were called to the scene. Two occupants, a female and male, were declared dead on the scene.

Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for community safety, security and liaison, confirmed the accident. “A man and a woman lost their lives on the spot. “A third occupant, a female passenger, was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital.” Investigations into the cause of the accident still continue. Mmusi urged motorists to adhere to the rules of the road at all times.
