Unite and renew the ANC, says caucus

With local government elections quickly approaching, the caucus of the ANC in the provincial legislature has called on its members to humble themselves and to gain lost ground.

Led by the majority party’s chief whip, Fidel Mlombo, the caucus held a two-day lekgotla in which strategies for the upcoming local government election and
resolutions were adopted.

Mlombo told the media through a virtual mini press conference on Friday that the lekgotla resolved to get every ANC caucus member to work tirelessly for the unity and renewal of the ANC.

“We have to spare no moment in ensuring that this caucus helps the ANC regain lost ground and lost trust in society.

Regaining the society’s trust and confidence in the ANC means we must be leaders who humble ourselves, reduce elite lifestyle and stop tendencies which alienates us as people’s leaders from the masses. This also means that we must live among the people daily, take up their struggles and close social distance between us and the
people,” said Mlombo.

He said the time to serve and be loyal to the people has come. “We have a duty to ensure that we participate in the journey for the renewal of our organisation and the restoration of its core values and principles, which are unity, dedication, selflessness, hard work and integrity. These values remain the cornerstone that will drive us as the caucus of the ANC at all times as we navigate the journey towards restoring people’s trust and confidence to their own
glorious movement, the ANC,” continued Mlombo.

Mlombo said the lekgotla also resolved that all deployed cadres of the ANC must act in an exemplary way through their conduct and action.

He added that the caucus resolved to intensify campaigns towards the fight against gender-based violence and Covid-19.

“We call upon the people of the province to heed the call and vaccinate against the pandemic. As the caucus, we will be using all available platforms to send out a positive message of hope to encourage our citizens to endorse the vaccination process,” said Mlombo.

“We emerged from this lekgotla invigorated and renewed to continue serving the people of Mpumalanga. We also want to declare for the ANC and its
members to know that this caucus will be working tirelessly for the ANC victory in the upcoming local government elections.

All our constituency offices and human resources shall be activated towards an ANC victory,” he concluded.
