Libraries for relief fund have been launched

The third phase of the Covid-19 Relief Fund is aimed at assisting artists and athletes who could not earn a living out of these sectors after the country was moved to Adjusted Alert Level 1 in December.

Government has made public libraries available in Mpumalanga to help people with online and manual applications to the third phase of the Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Explaining the details was the spokesperson for culture, sport and recreation, Sibongile Nkosi, who said, “The third phase of the Covid-19 Relief Fund is aimed at assisting artists and athletes who could not earn a living out of these sectors after the country was moved to Adjusted Alert Level 1 in December.

The 61 public libraries will make it easier for the practitioners to submit their applications, as government has made human and technological resources available,” she explained. According to Nkosi, 24 public libraries in the Ehlanzeni District will open its doors to assist applicants, with Nkangala District to make use of 25 libraries and Gert Sibande, 12.

In Ehlanzeni, applicants may contact David Mthethwa on 071-146-3824, and in Nkangala District, Lucky Sibiya is available on 064-890-9165. The Gert Sibande District will be represented by Lindokuhle Simelane on 072-183-0442.

“Applications are now open until February 22. All Covid-19 safety and health protocols will be adhered to at the libraries. We understand that our people do not have resources at their disposal, and we trust this move will make it easy for them to apply for the relief fund, which is open to people who make a living out of the sport and entertainment sectors,” added Nkosi.
