WATCH: Heavy downpours sweep away large sections of road in Matsulu

 Large sections of road have been swept away in Matsulu following heavy overnight rain.

The DA Ward 19 councillor, Bongani Mhlanga, said Matsulu B appears to be hardest hit. Lidibho Street, in particular, seems to have been affected quite badly. Mhanga is seeking assistance regarding the damage to Mgwenja Circuit Bridge.

“The public road seems to be affected by a drainage system that is not working properly,” said Mhlanga.

He placed the cause at the feet of contractors who he said had used tar of poor quality during construction.

“Once the rain hit, the road lifted, pointing to poor quality material,” he said.
