Zester Siyagandza gets up and goes

After surviving a horrific car crash, local kwaito star and music promoter, Zester Siyagandza is back in studio and already doing what he does best.

The “Step by Step” hitmaker, whose musical train got derailed after the accident left him hospitalised and his father dead, said he is hard at work trying to forget the past year that has been hell for him.

“Last year was really bad for me. Shortly after releasing the ‘Step by Step’ single, Covid-19 hit us so hard we could not even move to market, promote the music on our radio stations and shoot music videos. And then I had an accident that left me in hospital for weeks. I lost my father while I was still in hospital,” said Zester.

With all the misery and misfortunes of the past year, the muso said he had found solace in music, which helped him to quickly heal and move on.

“I realised that I needed to move on and music made the burden seem easier for me. I went back to the studio and started working on fresh material. I am happy to announce that I will be soon releasing a single that features Chillax, Kaspero and DJ Flesh,” continued Zester.

Both Chillax and Kaspero are known local music heavyweights who have been in the music industry for the longest time.

“I have always wanted to collaborate with Chillax and Kaspero, and when the opportunity came I decided to take it with both hands,” he said.
The single is expected to be released at the end of January or early February.

As a music promoter, Zester has brought to these shores some of Mzansi’s giants of music, such as Professor, Chomee, Zakes Bantwini, the Cwabe Twins and Duncan, to name a few.

“The bigger picture is not just to bring these musicians here so they perform and leave. I want to create a platform for our local artists to be able to network and interact with these musicians from big music companies. Already, after hearing our own Deidree singing, Chomee requested to do a duet with her. This is the kind of growth and recognition I am yearning for for our local artists,” said Zester.
