Woman’s body found in Nkomazi River

The police have opened an inquest docket.

The lifeless body of an unknown woman, estimated to be in her early 30s, was found floating in the Nkomazi River in Tonga yesterday. Members of the community alleged that she had been assaulted and killed before being thrown in the river.

Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesperson for the Tonga police, said the woman was certified dead on the scene. She was wearing a black top and a red-and-black striped skirt. “We suspect the body might had been in the river for a day or two, as her skin colour was becoming pale.

“She had scratches over the body which we cannot describe at the moment. The post-mortem results will determine the nature of her death. The police have opened an inquest docket,” Nkosi explained. Anyone with a missing relative or family member is urged report to the police station.
