Exams rescheduled to January 2021 at UMP

The university will open on January 4. Students are expected to be back on campus on January 5. All those who were initially expected to write their exams in January are due to resume with exams on January 6

Only 11 final-year students of the University of Mpumalanga sat for one module of their exams at the Mbombela campus.

The rest could not because of the violent protest over payments of student accommodation, food allowances and the extension of the exam period.

Dr Paul Maminza, the dean of student affairs, said the university will now have to reschedule the December exams. “We are not going to tamper with the January exam timetable. We will look at dates to fit modules that were not written in December with the idea of finishing all exams by January 29,” said Maminza.

He alluded that the university’s exam committee was looking at suitable dates to fit those students who did not write their December exams because of the protest action. He said the final decision would be communicated before the institution’s recess period this week.
