Vote for top-2 finalist, Zama Khumalo

On Sunday, South Africa will find out who the next SA Idol is.

One of the two talented Idols contestants of the province made it to the final round. Zama Khumalo, of Ehlalanikahle Village in Witbank, secured her spot in the top two, after a tough competition that saw one of Mpumalanga’s top-three finalists, Brandon Dhludhlu of Barberton, being eliminated. He could not garner enough votes to remain in contention. This left a bitter taste in the mouths of many of his followers. On Sunday, Zama will compete for the lucrative Idols title alongside KwaZulu-Natal gem, Mr Music. The Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation urged people of the province to vote for Zama.

“And then there was one… #IdolsZama. Mpumalanga is behind you. #Sihambanaye. To show your support, vote for her,” read a post on the department’s Facebook page. To vote for Zama, SMS 04 to 37400. You can also vote via the MyDStv app or the Idols SA mobile site, www.idols sa.tv. Votes on the mobile site are limited to 100 per user. These are free. The voting line is open until 22:00 on Thursday. In a media statement, Zama’s supporters known as Team Zama, said, “Since the beginning of the competition she has set the bar high for the other contestants and has been trending on social media to date. This is because she dominated the show on a weekly basis, not just as a female contestant, but because she is a vocally strong gospel singer who transitioned into an Idol who is loved by her fans. “Last week, the artist flawlessly performed her new Afro-pop single, ‘Ndizobizwa’, and brought her parents and the audience to tears,” read the statement from Team Zama.
