Rise FM will be hotter than ever

Exciting changes are afoot at “Mpumalanga’s hottest radio station”, RISE fm, with a whole new lineup set to launch on December 1.

According to the station manager, Patrick Bogatsu, the aim is to remain fresh and current without losing presenters.

“RISE fm is already blessed to have a wonderful and experienced team of presenters. It is now time to ensure that the talent is maximised and placed where it is most suited,” he said. Bogatsu, a veteran radio and media guru, assured the province and RISE fm listeners that no one has been fired as a result of these changes.

From December, Mpumalanga will start its day with the station’s popular JT Lubisi teaming up with experienced weekend presenter, Victor Rose Junior on RISE fm’s Breakfast Show.

It will be a whole new “all-women” Drive Show with RISE fm’s Lilly Makofane and the inimitable Zookey Zarling, who joins the station.

Another new “face” will be the former Ligwalagwala FM’s Pretty D who takes over the RISE fm’s evening hot seat. The station’s on-air team remains essentially intact though, with Mpumi Mbethe moving to mid-mornings from 09:00 to 12:00 and Kedebone Mkhabela continuing to host the dynamic RISE fm Lunch with Mizz K.

Other popular presenters such as Cheese Masango, Sibo Pilson and Fezile Manzini will boost the weekend radio with their experience and unique presence, ensuring top talent is spread over seven days, with regular weekend talent Chris Mfeka still in the mix.

“This year has been challenging for most people in the province. RISE fm is extremely grateful for the station’s ongoing positive growth, and radio in general, during the pandemic. Our new line-up is exciting and the new changes allow RISE fm to move with the ever-developing landscape of commercial radio in South Africa,” said Bogatsu.

The station is parting ways with veteran radio host, Carol Sanderson-Sambo who exclusively told Mpumalanga News that she now wants to focus on empowering community radio stations.

“As a product of a community radio station, I feel it is time for me to give back by focusing my energy to helping them grow and blossom. It is also time for me to move on and pass on the baton to the younger generation, because I believe there’s a lot of talent out there. Being part of the RISE fm family has been a great experience, especially since I didn’t think I’d go back to radio. Through this platform I was able to interact and afford young creatives much-needed exposure. I am happy that I was part of this,” she said
