Great gospel from the Ligwalagwala’s Lady of Soul

If you are looking for food for the soul, look no further than the Lady of Soul, Past Portia Luthuli.

The Siyadvumisa Gospel Show host on Ligwalagwala FM, that is aired every Sunday from 07:00 to 09:00, offers nothing but the best.

Luthuli, fondly known to her listeners as the Lady of Soul, is a young, vibrant, loving and influential pastor and radio presenter who has taken the broadcasting scenes by storm.

During her stint as radio presenter, Luthuli has collected a number of accolades and even went on to become a published author. She has recently released her third book for children, entitled Mighty Children’s 3-in-1 Book Series. “I believe I have just landed. This is only the beginning,” she said with a smile as she chatted with Mpumalanga News about her journey.

She joined the SABC-owned radio station in 2005, where she hosted the weekly choral music morning devotions and the gospel top-10 hit shows.

“It has been quite a journey for me and I have learned so much. I have grown both spiritually and as a person and radio presenter,” she said.

Luthuli can be credited as one of the first young female pastors who took part in radio motivations, teachings and taking gospel to another dimension. Her effort has also contributed greatly to increasing the listenership of Ligwalagwala FM and she has influenced both young and old.

She motivates her followers on different social issues during her talk show that is aired on Thursday evenings. Among some of her accolades, she won the award for the best Gospel Show in South Africa (public and commercial radios) at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2017.

Luthuli is also the founder of the Deborah Woman’s Club that was established in 2008. It has more than 200 members all over South Africa as well as Swaziland.

In 2017, she started producing her hair food created for natural and relaxed hair for both women and men. “The products are doing great, but my wish is to see them available in all major outlets countrywide,” she said.
