Matsulu woman killed for failing to pay mashonisa
He stabbed her several times with a sharp object in her neck before he and his wife fled the scene.
A woman was killed in Matsulu C after she failed to pay money she owed a mashonisa (loan shark). The incident happened around 18:30 on Tuesday. According to a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the woman initially had an argument with the loan shark’s wife when she told her that she had no money to pay them.

“That was when the wife called her husband, whom upon arrival at the scene grabbed the victim and stabbed her several times with a sharp object in her neck before he and his wife fled the scene,” she said. Locals found the victim’s children crying at the scene.
Police were called to the crime scene. The victim was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
The spokesperson of Matsulu Police Station, Const Nkomozabo Khumalo confirmed the murder. “One suspect had been arrested. The police are looking for the male suspect. Investigations still continue,” she concluded.
