One of the victims, a junior police officer who was recently kidnapped on her way from Bushbuckridge to Lydenburg, told Mashaba how depressed she felt after it had happened. She alleged that she was sexually abused by a senior officer at the police station. “I have reported this and asked for a transfer three times, but have not received any positive response. I am not well; I am pregnant and this just drains me,” she said. The victim alleged that her kidnapping was linked to her treatment at the station.
