SamSam will spin it like only SamSam can

Local spinner, Samkelo Thubane, fondly known as SamSam, will fly the local flag high. The thrilling action will take place next Saturday September 19 from 19:00 and will be streamed live on Red Bull TV and iol.co.za.

Mpumalanga will be well represented in the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto when it returns for another electrifying season as South Africa’s top spinners go head-to-head to clinch the 2020 title. SamSam, who started participating at a very young age, dominated media headlines after he made history by becoming the country’s youngest car spinner.

He was mentored by the legendary Jeff James, who is respected as one of the best. “I look forward to competing against some of the greatest car spinners in the country. Hopefully, I will be able to make a mark like I have been doing all these years,” said SamSam. Due to Covid-19, 10 of the best participants from across the country will gather behind closed doors at a top-secret location to showcase their skills and stunts.

The first round will see the spinners taking on a course set out for them from Thursday September 17, where viewers will have 48 hours to vote for the best action. This will be done to see who advances to the live event on Saturday, where they will be judged by a panel of legendary local spinners, including James, Magesh, and Shehiem Bell.

Last year, South Africans were treated to mind-blowing stunts at the inaugural Red Bull Shay’ iMoto, hosted at the Wheelz ‘n Smoke Arena, as 16 participants battled it out for the championship. After a heated competition, the Nigel spinning king Vernon “Veejaro” Hendricks was crowned the first-ever Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion.
