Ligwalagwala FM presenter and Mr Chillax sing for the spirit of Sundowns

“Ishay ‘Izule”, a song by Ligwalagwala FM presenter, Nontuthuko Lekhuleni and musician Mr Chillax, has made it to the grand finale of the Mamelodi Sundowns’ #SingWithSundowns competition.

This competition, which forms part of PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns’ 50th anniversary, is open to every citizen and must be about the team and refer to any other names associated with them.

Lekhuleni and Mr Chillax were announced as first-round winners in the siSwati category and will now compete for the R6 million prize money in the grand finale scheduled for December.

“We initially recorded two songs in the siSwati category and one of them won the first round,” said Mr Chillax.
“Our goal was to include everyone in the song, no matter their language or where they come from. We wanted to create a singalong anthem for people when they are at stadiums, watching their favourite teams. The ‘KaBo Yellow’ song inspired us. We know the song even though we are not soccer fans or supporters,” Lekhuleni
added.

The recording of their song came from listening to other songs that they found on the Mamelodi Sundowns website.

“We sat down and decided to put all those songs together. We then went to the studio and started recording. We had to be creative enough to come up with something exciting using existing songs. This was a challenging exercise, but we were rewarded in the end,” she concluded.
