Indlovukazi’s song mesmerise Mzansi

Listening to the hit song, "Gugulethu", which has just become Mzansi’s new heritage, one would swear the vocals are being sung by the legendary Brenda Fassie or Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

MBOMBELA – But no, the sweet voice behind the lyrics is none other than Mpumalanga’s own singer and songwriter, Indlovukazi.

Born Princess Nompumelelo Nkuna, in the dusty streets of the rural Nkomazi sub-region, Indlovukazi is one of the few ladies of song in the country currently cooking nothing but good music, winning awards and yet remaining
humble.

The ” Guglutethu” hitmaker is certainly here to stay and dominate.

“Well, I am still counting my lucky stars that I was able to make it through to where my music career is at now,” she opened up during an exclusive interview with this paper.

Just like many children, Indlovukazi’s singing career began in the shower and in a Sunday school choir.
But unlike many children, her singing prowess didn’t just end at the kitchen door, she decided to take her gift to the next level.

“I honestly didn’t know I’d one day become a powerhouse name in the country but I thank God for the
gift of song and my fans, especially from this province who have never doubted my capabilities,” she acknowledged.
Teaming up with house music geniuses, Prince Kaybee, TNS and Master KG, has opened doors for Indlovukazi while at the same time exposing her talent to the world.

She is currently pushing her new hit, “Cinisela”, which she recently released with Master KG.
“Besides writing and making music, I had ample time since the lockdown began to learn how to produce the music that I write,” she said.

She has written songs for many artists, including Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Nciza, and plans to write and produce SiSwati songs, especially for artists from this province.

Sama nomination Her masterpieces with both Prince Kaybee and TNS have not gone unnoticed. Fresh from winning
the Mzansi DStv Viewers’ Choice Awards for Song of the Year with Prince Kaybee, the duo have been nominated yet again in this year’s instalment of the South African Music Awards.

They received two nominations, in the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.
As if this was not enough, her hit song, “My Dali”, a collaboration with TNS, also received two nominations, the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.

“To be nominated in the country’s biggest music awards is a blessing and an honour on its own. I am counting mostly on my home province for votes. I have seen this province uniting and rallying behind some of our very own artists in the past and all I am asking for is that spirit again. Together, we can bring this crown back here in the province,” pleaded Indlovukazi.
