Second Covid-19 case at Nelspruit Police Station in less than one week results in temporary closure

As the numbers of positive coronavirus cases increase, police stations across the Lowveld are recording new cases on an almost weekly basis.

Nelspruit Police Station today documented another case, after being closed temporarily last week Monday due to an official having tested positive.

According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, a provisional Community Service Centre will be set up in a mobile caravan at the front entrance of the police station in Bester Street.

“The community should call 082-303-9658, 082-462-2582 or 066-480-1408 for all emergencies and complaints, which will be attended accordingly,” said Hlathi.

He added that the telephone lines would not be functional, but maintained that this would not have a negative effect on service delivery.

“The building will be decontaminated and services will resume normally at the station on Friday. The SAPS management apologises for any inconvenience that may arise from this,” Hlathi concluded.
