Buscor makes generous donation to department

The passenger bus company made an enormous donation of face masks to the Department of Community Liaison, Safety and Security.

MBOMBELA – Just a day after listeners of a local radio station called in and joked on air that the Buscor chairperson, Dr Norah Fakude-Nkuna, should be made a transport minister should President Cyril Ramaphosa consider reshuffling, Fakude-Nkuna made an enormous donation of face masks to the Department of Community Liaison, Safety and Security.

Receiving the masks on behalf of the department on Wednesday, at the Buscor head offices, was MEC Gabisile
Tshabalala and the department’s head of administration, Busi Nkuna.

“We really appreciate the gesture shown today by Buscor and Mama Norah. I want to stress that  you remain one
of our very own business individuals who continues to put Mbombela and the province on the map through your generous contribution towards the betterment of humankind.

“We truly appreciate your contribution and we can see that we really have leaders in the business sector who still care. For us in politics, you remain our tried and tested veteran and we continue to benefit from you through
your wisdom and generosity,” said Tshabalala.

She said the masks have come at the right time when Covid-19 positive cases are really escalating in the
province.

“We will put these masks to better use as we continue to fight against the spread of the virus.” Fakude-Nkuna said Buscor understands the severity of the current situation as created by the outbreak of Covid-19 and the need for concerted efforts to overcome it.

“As we begin Mandela Month, we are inspired by the life and times of our great leader, Tata Nelson Mandela, who taught us the true definition of ubuntu and the spirit of working together in times of troubles such as these. If we are to win the battle against this pandemic, we will need to join forces and work together towards the same goal.

“This is one of the reasons why we have taken a decision to donate these masks. We are grateful for the decisive leadership being shown by our government in the province to fight the scourge and we believe that working with government, we will win the fight against Covid-19,” said FakudeNkuna.
