Two suspects expected to appear in court for alleged possession of human body parts

Two men aged 45 and 49 are expected to appear in the Eerstehoek Magistrate's Court today for alleged possession of human body parts.

NELSPRUIT – The suspects were arrested on Sunday at Elukwatini.

According to police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, their arrest follows after an intelligence driven operation which prompted police to follow up on information regarding a red sedan which was on its way to Elukwatini. There were allegedly two occupants transporting human body parts.

“The suspects’ vehicle was intercepted at the Lochiel-Nhlazatshe intersection where officials thoroughly searched it and discovered a leg, placenta and a knee which was separately collected from a certain house. The discovery has sparked an investigation on the matter. Police will look into the trail of events to uncover where these parts originate from,” said Hlathi.

The arrest is welcomed by the SAPS and the community is encouraged to work with officials to curb any form of criminality.
