Covid-19: The number of confirmed cases in Mpumalanga as of May 16

The Mpumalanga Department of Health confirmed that the number of Covid-19 cases in Mpumalanga has increased to 68.

South Africa has a total of 14 355 confirmed Covid-19 cases according to an announcement by minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Saturday, May 16.

A total of 68 of those cases have been recorded in Mpumalanga. According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, 49 recoveries have been recorded to date. There have been no deaths recorded in Mpumalanga.

The number of positive cases in Mpumalanga can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 1 case and 1 recovery
• City of Mbombela: 13 cases and 7 recoveries
• Nkomazi: 20 cases and 18 recoveries
• Thaba Chweu: 1 case

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 0 cases
• Dipaliseng: 0 cases
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 16 cases and 13 recoveries
• Govan Mbeki: 3 cases and 1 recovery
• Lekwa: 2 cases and 2 recoveries
• Mkhondo: 0 cases
• Msukaligwa: 1 case and 1 recovery

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 1 case and 1 recovery
• Emakhazeni: 2 cases and 2 recoveries
• Emalahleni: 3 cases and 1 recovery
• Steve Tshwete: 2 cases and 1 recovery
• Thembisile Hani: 3 cases and 1 recovery
• Victor Khanye: 0 cases.
