More food needed to feed poverty stricken communities
Over 2000 requests for food parcels have been received by the Department of Social Development.
ROCKY’S DRIFT – The Department of Social Development in the province is calling on stakeholders to join in assisting those in need of social relief of distress.
Speaking during a handover of food parcels from the local Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG), MEC Thandi Shongwe pleaded with anyone willing to assist to come forth.

Shongwe said the department had received more than 2 000 calls at the call centre that was recently established from people requesting food parcels. Despite a few challenges, alternative contact numbers are available for people to use.
