Nkomazi Mayor condemns attack on health workers as senseless

“Government would never sell out its people and that misinformation and fake news leads to such acts.“

KAMHLUSHWA – Nkomazi Local
Municipality mayor, Johan Mkhatshwa described the recent incident in Hhoyi as senseless after community members harassed health workers who were conducting screenings.

Mkhatshwa pointed out that government would never sell out its people and that misinformation and fake news leads to such acts.

“We had to swiftly intervene with police and reiterated our message through the community radio. There’s no such thing as health workers will infect people when they conduct screenings. These people are trained to assist the community. There’s only a questionnaire that will determine that one should go for testing,” he said.
