A total of 72 schools were broken into around the province.
This includes seven schools in the Bohlabela District, nine in Ehlanzeni, 28 in Nkangala and also in Gert Sibande.
Mpumalanga Department of Education spokesperson, Jasper Zwane expressed disappointment.

“These burglaries took place during the National Lockdown which is very disappointing. Judging from the number of incidents, it seems that criminals are on the prawl destroying the much needed community development facilities,” said Zwane.
Cases were opened and police are investigating.
The department requests anyone who might have any information relating to the burglaries to contact the nearest police station.
