Unidentified Mpumalanga MEC under quarantine

This was revealed when Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane responded to Mpumalanga News’ question if all MECs had undergone screening and testing for Covid-19.

MBOMBELA – An unidentified Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in Mpumalanga is under quarantine after undergoing screening for the Covid-19 pandemic recently.

This was disclosed by Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane today when she launched the provincial app which will assist the community to register online a questionnaire that will provide information to medical staff, to spot potential cases in and around the province.

Mtshweni-Tsipane was responding to Mpumalanga News’ question if all MECs had undergone screening and testing for Covid-19.

“One MEC underwent a screening test, unfortunately, some symptoms of the virus were discovered. That MEC is under quarantine for 14 days and will thereafter undergo a second test.

“I personally, haven’t undergone any screening test and all the other MECs, too. Who knows, the results, thereof, may return either positive and negative for anyone of us. It’s important for all of us to undergo screening tests along with all members of the community,” said Mtsweni- Tsipane.

She added that the disease has no status, colour or creed, but it can affect anyone.

“Hence the intensified drive for the entire community to adhere to the rules and regulations as set out by President Cyril Ramaphosa to wash our hands clean, sanitize them and fumigate our living areas and surroundings,” she concluded.
