Housebreaking suspects to appear in court today

An operation was conducted which led police to two houses at Embonisweni, near Kabokweni.

Police provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said two firearms hidden inside a couch with serial numbers filed off as well as five live ammunition were found. 

 

“The first suspect was arrested for possession of illegal firearms and an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act was also levelled against him because failed to produce valid documents as proof that he was in the country legally.”

 

“The operation proceeded to the second house where another suspect was also found and upon searching his place, police recovered items such as DVD players, audio control boxes, speakers, a wristwatch and deep cycle batteries,” said Hlathi.

The suspect, who also failed to produce a valid passport, was arrested for possession of the suspected stolen property and was also charged for contravention of the Illegal Immigration Act.

 

They will appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court today.
