Support learners who failed grade 12

The MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba called on principals to support matriculants who failed the NCS Examination.

Speaking to principals attending a meeting for secondary school principals of Ehlanzeni District at Lowveld High School this morning. Majuba pleaded with them to give those learners a second chance.

“On this note, let me request each of us to make it his or her responsibility to assist all the learners who did not pass grade 12 in 2019. Let no child be thrown into the dustbin of failure,” said Majuba.
He called on principals to do everything possible to help them for the sake of the growth and development of their communities and the province.

“I am going to be very much humbled to receive a call, email and letter from any of you present here today, indicating a plan to assist these learners and I promise that I will do everything possible to partner with your school,” he said.

“I am saying this aware of the Second Chance Programmes that the department offers, but I will welcome any form of innovation coming from you. Let’s do this to ensure that we fully live up to our mandate which is to free the potential of each citizen,” he added.

Majuba urged matriculants who wish to register for the May /June examination to do so before the closing date on January 31.
