Gruesome body with missing body parts found in Marite

The deceased’s brain was allegedly removed.

A gruesome discovery of an unknown man with missing body parts was made next to a tavern in Mazakhele section, Marite yesterday morning.

Members of the community led police to the scene where the body was lying facing down with a big opening on the head. According to police, the deceased’s brain was allegedly removed.

Some pieces of the bones from his head were found next to the body. The deceased’s left ear was also missing.

Police also found VW car keys in the deceased’s pockets.

“The man had two gun shot wounds on his stomach and one on his back where a bullet might have exited his body. He also had a stab wound on his left hand,” said Brig Leonard Hlathi, the provincial police spokesperson.

“The motive for the killing is not known,” he said.

The body was taken to the Bushbuckridge Government Mortuary.
A murder case was opened at the Calcutta police station.

Police investigations still continue.
