Six trucks set alight in Mpumalanga

Reports suggest that the trucks were to deliver coal at Arnot Power Station

Six trucks were set on fire at different places around the province on November 4. One of the trucks was burned in Hendrina, four at Arnot and one at Kriel.

According to police information at Hendrina, the complainant was sleeping inside a parked truck when he was awoken by the noise of a breaking truck window. It is alleged that a male suspect ordered him to get out of the truck and then he saw seven other males.
“The suspect who initially ordered him to get out of the truck, allegedly took out a box of matches and set the blankets that were inside on fire. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a White Toyota Corolla after noticing that police were coming after them. No arrest was made,” explains Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesperson for Mpumalanga police.
