EMS work is a calling – MEC

“I am always preaching to the employees of the department that we do not just employ randomly. Whether you’re a cleaner, clerk, director or any position, it’s a calling," says the MEC.

MBOMBELA – The Department of Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini, addressed Emergency Services officials on the importance of their jobs in the province’s communities.

She pointed out before delivering her keynote address that being employed in the department is a calling rather than a job.

“I am always preaching to the employees of the department that we do not just employ randomly.

Whether you’re a cleaner, clerk, director or any position, it’s a calling. Not only doctors and nurses have a calling, but each and everyone of you working in the department has a calling to serve the people.

The sooner we understand that, it will be for the better. There are many people in this country with a high rate of unemployment, but God chose you to be in this department for a purpose. God believed in you for the sake of his people and not for your job. The department is not for cheque collectors,” she said.

She went on to add that she was afraid for those who are in the department who are not heeding the call of where God has positioned them.

“If you are not afraid of God, he’s watching you, and if you are not careful, you might find yourself out in the cold because he punishes for life. The reason is that you have broken the trust he had in you to serve his people,” she concluded.
