Two Numbi murder victims to be finally buried this weekend

Bodies of the four victims were exhumed from the home of Thabiso Julius Mndawe on July 14.

Forensic investigations have positively identified two of the four teenage girls’ remains exhumed from a suspect’s home on July 14 to their families.

According to Sgt Naniki Nonyane, spokesperson for Masoyi police, the remains of Banele Khoza from Swalala emaFifty and Lomthandazo Innocentia Mdluli from Numbi were released to their families on Tuesday after over three months of intense forensic investigations.

“Investigations are still continuing at a Pretoria laboratory for the remaining two women, Felicia Mdlovo and Noxolo Mdluli. Once the investigations are concluded their bodies will also be released to their families as well,” she said. Mpumalanga News learned that both victims will be buried separately at their homes on Sunday.

“We have cried a lot, while waiting for the completion of the investigation for the past three months. We are now relieved that at last we will give our daughter a dignified funeral,” said Banele’s father, Masinga Khoza.

Bodies of the four victims were exhumed from the home of Thabiso Julius Mndawe on July 14.

This happened after Mndawe was arrested for the alleged murder of Tokkie Tlaka from Mgcobaneni. Her body was exhumed on July 3 after Mndawe allegedly confessed to her murder following the police tracing Tlaka’s cellphone. Masoyi police said Mndawe also confessed to the murder of the four other women and pointed police to the victim’s shallow graves at his home.
