Mpumalanga Treasury achieves 10th clean audit

Ngomane said the latest audit outcome is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the department to good governance

Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury has received its tenth successive Unqualified Audit Opinion without Matter of Emphasis during the 2018/19 financial year.

This was revealed by the MEC for finance, economic development and tourism, Pat Ngomane, when he tabled the annual report to the portfolio committee in the Premier’s Office in Mbombela.

Ngomane said the latest audit outcome is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the department to good governance. He congratulated all officials for sticking to the rules and requested them to remain focused on their mandate to help improve the overall audit outcomes in the province.

“We have good policies and related operating procedures which when followed to the letter will lead to improved governance record in our province,” said Ngomane

He added, “Consistent application of policies, fiscal discipline, and proper accounting on the use of public resources will help the province to move forward.” Ngomane called on government officials and, especially all managers in departments, public entities and municipalities to make every day an audit day.

He also appealed to each official in the provincial government to transform their daily work outputs into desirable outcomes to grow the province.
