Woman’s body found under her bed in Hazyview
She had a fracture on her skull. A hammer was also found in the bedroom.
The family of a 36 year-old woman who was killed and her body hidden under her bed in Hazyview, is still traumatized, four days later.
Miriam Mary Mashego was last seen by her children on Wednesday morning when they left for school. It was only on Thursday that the older child (16) reported her mother’s missing to members of the community who then conducted a search for her whereabouts.
“While searching in the house, they discovered that her bedroom door was locked with the keys hanging from inside. One of them entered the room through the roof to
open the door, but they didn’t find her,” explains Robby Mashego, the deceased’s brother.

“One of our brothers decided to check under the bed and that was when he saw blood stains, the bed was then removed . Our sister was found dead with her face facing down. She had a fracture on her skull. A hammer was also found in the bedroom,” said Mashego.
Hazyview police and paramedics were called to the scene. She was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Her cellphone was also missing.
“The family is traumatised by this. Her children need professional counselling as they have been through a lot since the death of their father eight years ago, which was followed by their grandparents and now this,” concluded Mashego.
The deceased will be buried on Saturday
