Men stoned to death in Hopeville

The two were allegedly caught stealing from a hardware in the area.

A mob justice at Hopeville near Msholozi resulted in the death of two males this weekend.

According to Sgt Cynthia Mbokodo, spokesperson of White River police, the police received a complaint about a mob justice taking place in the area on Friday night. Upon arrival, police found a group of people who showed them where the two deceased were unconsciously lying on the ground.

“Stones were found scattered next to them,” she said.

It is alleged the two were stoned to death after being allegedly caught stealing from a hardware in the area.

They were both certified death at the scene by paramedics.

Mbokodo warned members of the community against taking the law into their hands.
